CONTRIBUTING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
All proceeds from “The Whistleville" and “The Seaside" chocolate bars go to neighborhood improvements in Whistleville - South Norwalk, CT and Seaside, OR
“The Whistleville” is a dark chocolate bar filled with Italian candied lemon peel & salted roasted pistachios.
“The Seaside” chocolate bar is a luscious 40% milk chocolate bar filled with dried cranberries and Oregon grown hazelnuts from Ken & June’s Hazelnuts.
The origins of Whistleville Market are rooted in neighborhood improvement, community and connection. Whistleville is a "historic" neighborhood in South Norwalk, CT next to the train station - and the story of Whistleville is the story of “Bedford Falls, America” - where immigrants and locals worked together to form neighborhoods and create communities that shared and enriched life experiences - which continues today.
One of the features of Whistleville Market is Chocopologie Chocolates, among the finest chocolates in the world! Fritz Knipschlidt, founder of “House of Knipschlidt" and Steven Christofor, founder of Whistleville Market and owner of Christofor Realty have been friends and associates for over 20 years and have worked together to launch “The Whistleville” and “The Seaside” chocolate bars where the proceeds go directly back to the community.
Steven and Fritz first crossed paths in the early 2000s as business owners in South Norwalk (SONO). Steven was building Christofor Realty into SONO’s premier real estate office, while Fritz, a young chef from Denmark, was establishing House of Knipschildt, which would soon become one of the world’s leading chocolatiers.
Over the years, Fritz’s chocolate creations have been recognized globally— named one of the “top three truffles in the world” by Gourmet Magazine and earning praise from Oprah, Madonna, and the Food Network. Fritz also holds a place in The Guinness Book of World Records and Forbes for creating the most expensive truffle in the world. All of his chocolates are handmade, hand painted and hand packed.
Steven, meanwhile, grew Christofor Realty into a cornerstone of the SONO community, transacting residential and commercial real estate. His work with the Golden Hill Neighborhood Association from 2005 to 2013, lead to key improvements in the Golden Hill/Cedar Street area, including new sidewalks, historic street lighting, tree plantings and updated zoning for future development.
More recently, Steven has focused on revitalizing Whistleville — a historic neighborhood next to the South Norwalk Train Station — helping secure new sidewalks, new Neighborhood Association By-laws, street banners and hanging flower baskets with support from the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency and City Hall.
